I want to become a Star
Marie
Enaud and Juliette from France were in Chennai volunteering
for a month in Chennai CSR projects. Along with the
CSR Team, they directed and staged a musical drama named
- "I want to become a Star" with 30 children from Padma
Adarsh. The grand final performance was held on 21 July'10
in the school and also in Steria office during the POB
awards ceremony. All the children who enacted in the
musical drama received gifts sponsored by Subir Singh
(Sales) of Noida. As part of the musical drama, the
children learnt a French song, an African song along
with rhythms apart from our very own India Bollywood
dances.
Workshops and Teaching
Marie
Enaud and Juliette Alouis, volunteers from Paris spent
one month in Chennai working in 3 schools in the month
of July'10.
Along
with Shobha Tirkey, Marie and Juliette, joined in the
Acrylic Painting Workshop conducted by Mrs.Kuppu, the
Drawing Teacher in France sponsored Mahabalipuram Senior
Secondary School. 30 students were taught the various
techniques of colouring and painting. A box of acrylic
paint and brush were presented to each student. Other
stationery items were gifted to the school. 30 students
participated in the painting workshop.
Marie,
Juliette and Shobha also conducted the flower making
workshops and paper craft workshops in HQ School (Govt.
Girls Higher Secondary School, Thiruporur). Flowers
were sent to the staff of HQ by the children. More than
90 students participated in these workshops spread over
5 days.
Apart
from the above, Marie and Juliette along with Kanchana
conducted regular classes for children of Class 3 from
Padma Adarsh Primary School, teaching rhymes, English
words, conducting quizzes and drawing lessons.
Life Skills Training
In
the month of July'10, more than 200 girl students from
Nigdi Girls High School Pune attended the "Life Skills
Training Program" and completed 6 sessions. In August'10,
more than 600 girl students of Ganage High School, Dnyandeep
Vidyalaya and Subodh Vidyalaya will be covered in a
similar training programme. Topics related to adolescence,
doubts and possible solutions to problems are discussed
and addressed in these sessions.
Reading Habits
From
1 August 2010, Newspaper in Education, an initiative
launched by Times of India was initiated to be launched
in Steria supported schools in Noida. The special newspaper
edition for children will be distributed every day at
a concession by Times of India. With this initiative
Steria would reach out to more than 700 children in
Noida for a period of six months on all working days.
