ODC 2010 - Chennai T - Fun Kadai
A
fun fundraiser the "Chennai T-Fun Kadai" festival was
held on Chennai campus on 12 Nov'10, as part of One
Day Challenge (ODC) 2010. This was a south Indian version
of the hugely successful 'Chatori Gali' held in Noida
for ODC 2008 and 2009. There was plenty of yummy food
on offer, delicacies like, bondas, vadas, idlis, ela
adas, kichadi and so on served with delicious south
Indian filter coffee.
Francois Enaud (Chairman & CEO), Dr.
Mukesh Aghi (CEO, India & Asia Pacific), Asma Aidi (COO
India) and Sanjeev Varma (CFO India) along with Steria
Chennai leaders - Vijayalakshmi Sankar, S Ram Kumar,
Shobha Duggirala, Srinivas Koppulu had all taken time
out to extend their support to this initiative. All
the men dressed in traditional south Indian attire -
"Veshti- Angavastram" and ladies in south Indian sarees,
welcomed the staff to the festival. To set the carnival
atmosphere there was scintillating music with an in-house
DJ and of course the star attraction - the mega superstar
himself - "Rajnikant"- who entertained the huge crowd
with some exciting dance numbers.
Gate collections beat all previous
records and clocked in at Rs.128000. This figure includes
sales of entry tickets as well as generous contributions
from our senior management team. We have also received
approximately Rs.25000 worth of prizes sponsored by
Jet Airways, Emirates and a Sterling Resorts gift voucher
from a well wisher, all of which were distributed to
the lucky winners at the end of the carnival.
What
was even more gratifying was that about 700 of our Chennai
staff purchased tickets and participated in this event
- which is more than 65% of Chennai staff strength.
Infact, we had to regretfully turn down several enthusiastic
late comers on account of the overwhelming response.
This event was much more than just
yummy food, scintillating music, photo ops and the 'mega
star'. It was a great collaborative effort by several
teams across Steria Chennai, who worked hard to make
this event a great success. Well done Team Chennai.
One Day Challenge scheduled for 19
November'10, is our global 'community day', when all
16 Steria group subsidiaries across Europe, Africa and
South East Asia come together to work for the underprivileged
community and raise funds for the charities that they
support.
In India all funds raised for ODC 2010
will go towards the corpus of SIFGSS, the Steria India
Foundation Graduate Scholarship Scheme - an endowment
created to provide financial assistance to bright youngsters
passing out of Steria supported schools to enable them
to study for a college degree and higher university
education. These are kids who would otherwise have to
drop out on account of difficult financial circumstances
at home.
