Nasscom Foundation Award

SteriaNasscom Foundation, the social development arm of Nasscom has launched the Pune CSR Forum on 23 Oct 2010. The basic idea behind creating and launching this Forum is to emphasize and promote volunteerism and raise awareness on the key role that volunteers can play to bring about social change.

To mark this launch, volunteers from several Pune based IT companies and other NGOs put up a show of dance, songs and skits based on socially relevant issues and each of the companies had their own theme which they expressed through music, song and drama. This event was staged on the Zensar Technologies campus in Pune on the 23 Oct’10. The companies participating included, besides Steria, Amdocs, Atos, KPIT, Mphasis, TCS, WNS, Zensar and so on.

Kalyani Vidyalaya, a school supported by Steria for children afflicted with Down syndrome, presented a play with the underlying message that there is no such thing as disability – whether physical or mental – and such special children given the opportunity and the means can rise above their handicap to become successful in their own right.

SteriaWe are happy to inform you that when the curtains came down at the end of the show, the children of Kalyani Vidyalaya, made sure, that their school was among the three projects that walked away with top honors. They won a number of prizes, including software, hardware and other computer peripherals.

We would also like to commend the important role played by our own staff volunteers at Pune, who worked tirelessly over several weeks with the Kalyani Vidyalaya children, in order to bring them this important honor. Thank you Vrushali Jadhav, Shalaka Bodas, Supriya Sakpal, Jayprakash Pawale, Swaminathan K, Sachin Bhalekar, Dipti Deshmane, Seema Nair, the Steria Pune CSR teachers - Jyoti, Sunita, Lata, Shobha, and Ragini.

Our Pune CSR champion, Chaitrali coordinated the entire effort.
