One Day Challenge India - Results (November 30, 2010)
ODC Fundraising – Rs.13.5 lakhs from CFS/Britannia Raffle and approximately Rs.7.5 lakhs through sponsorships
Main fundraisers – CFS/Britannia ODC 2010 Raffle and Chennai T-Fun Kadai. Other fundraisers included ‘Sponsor a meal’ for Jagruti School for Blind Girls in Pune and Arya Kanya Sadan in Noida, sale of Teddy keychains, ‘Save Environment’ bags, fun games like – Tug of war, hit the pot, etc.
Awareness Campaigns – Environment Day celebrations on 18 Nov’10 with ‘Save Environment Walks’, pledges and quizzes in Noida, Chennai and Pune.
Community events – Drawing competitions in all Steria supported schools. More than 40000 children participated and prizes distributed in each class in every school.
ODC 2010 Activities across India...... (November 29, 2010)
One Day Challenge 2010 - Chennai
On 1 Nov’10, Diwali was celebrated with Padma Adarsh orphanage children as part of the build up to ODC 2010. 25 volunteers visited the orphanage home and enjoyed the evening with the children, fire crackers and special dinner.
Movie shows were organized on 15 and 16 Nov’10 as part of ODC fundraising activity by the CSR volunteers in Chennai. 4 movies per day in 3 different languages were screened. Rs. 5250/- was raised through this event.
On 12 Nov’10, Chennai T-Fun Kadai was organised as a major fund raiser in Chennai by the senior management team. 700 employees participated in the event. Francois Enaud, Dr.Mukesh Aghi, Asma Aidi, Sanjeev Verma together with the Chennai Senior Management team raised more than Rs.1,28,000/- during this event. The seniors dressed in traditional south Indian attire – Vaisthi Angavastaram and Saris, served snacks to the staff. There was a festive atmosphere with music, dance as well as photo session with the seniors.
On 19 Nov’10 as part of One Day Challenge celebrations, fun games - Tug of war and Matka Adi were organized by volunteers in Chennai. Enthusiastic staff participated in teams and enjoyed the activities. Rs.1360/- were raised for this events.
The Grand Finale of events was celebrated on 19 November in Chennai. Children from Padma Adarsh HS School and Medavakkam High School performed dance show for the event. Children also performed a street play with the social theme of “Female Foeticide”.
ODC raffle lucky draw was held after the finale of events on 19 Nov’10. The winners of the bumper prize, the first and the second prizes were from Steria Noida. A Chennai employee won the third prize. 15 consolation prizes were also announced which were won by both internal Steria employees as well as external contributors from the 3 locations.
One Day Challenge 2010 - Noida
On 16 Nov’10, the Testing Services Line (TSL) team joined the children of Arya Kanya Sadan and served food as part of the ODC Sponsor a Meal initiative. Earlier in the month TSL team raised Rs.22620 for this event.
On 19 November 2010, as part of One Day Challenge 2010, Fun Day for 80 children was organised by volunteers organised in Steria office. The fun day included Karate performance by kids, magic show, tattoo making, fun games and dance competitions, etc for the kids followed by distribution of gifts and refreshments to all the children.
One Day Challenge 2010 - Pune
On 15 Nov’10, Pune CSR volunteers went to Jagriti School for Blind Girls at Alandi to serve them food as part of the ODC Sponsor a Meal initiative. Rs.16000 were raised for the event by the volunteers. Uday Sandhbhor was the lead for this event. Vrushali, Chaitrali, Rashmeet, Uday, Shalmalee, Rohan, Vinita, Dipali, Dipti, Shilpa, Pratibha along with CSR team visited the school on the day.
On 15 Nov’10, fun games - Tug of war and Matka Phod were organised for employees as part of ODC fun activities. More than 60 employees participated in the events.
As part of One Day Challenge activities celebrations, more than 100 children from Nigdi Girls High School and Jagruti School for Blind Girls participated in painting and debate competitions on Steria campus. Carnival stalls were set up for the children and employees, where cartoon characters were present to entertain the staff and children. The carnival games included applying tattoo, bangle making kiosks, balloon shooting, jumping jack, car races, etc. Children were sent back home after their dinner.
Painting competition and merit award distribution to the extended staff children was organised on 19 Nov’10. 10 children of extended staff participated in the painting competition.
Environment Day in Steria India – 18 November 2010 (November 29, 2010)
Steria Chennai:
Greenpeace set up a kiosk in the campus and also movie clippings on the environment issues were displayed in the LCD TV’s across the campus.
Green Champions sold environment badges to the employees.
At 3pm Greenpeace representatives along with Green Champions conducted floor walks and quiz competitions. Save environment pledges were also conducted for the employees.
At 4pm the Green Walk inside the campus and planting of 50 saplings by the Green Champions in Steria Chennai campus.
More than 50 Green Champions participated in the above events.
Steria Noida:
The ‘Green Walk’ was led by Anil Dhar & the CSR team along with 30 Green Champions, 35 school children, who went around Sector 1 Noida holding posters, banners and shouting slogans on ‘Save Environment’.
‘Environment Exhibition’ – was held in Noida 2 cafeteria displaying charts and models on environment such as tree plantation, rain water harvesting, pollution and marine life. The models were prepared by the Steria scholars and students from Rajendra Ashram.
Save Environment messages & pledge – Om Pandey and Anil Dhar along with volunteers and school children went on various floors holding posters and placards with environment messages. Environment pledges and quiz were also conducted on the floors.
Save Environment badges were sold to the staff during floor walks by the students
‘Environment Awareness Desks’ – Greenpeace, EYEC and WWF – NGOs for environment set up awareness desks at the open cafeteria to sensitise people towards environment issues and enrol them as volunteers in various campaigns. Plants were also sold at the EYEC desk.
Steria Pune:
A number of activities like ‘Green Walk’, talks about clean and green environment, save environment films, floor walks, environment quizzes were conducted by the Green Champions of Steria Pune. The events were led by Zaheer, Nitin and Chaitrali. More than 50 volunteers participated in the Green Walk and also took the pledge to save the environment.
