Roses & Rakhis for SIFGSS
In Pune, Raksha Bandhan celebrations were held as the first fund raiser for One Day Challenge 2009 and was initiated by Uday Sandhor on Wednesday, 5 August 09 with Raksha Bandhan celebrations in Vidyavati Ashram. A fund-raiser was implemented successfully by the Aspire, iOTA and BIFR Team apart from other CSR volunteers in Pune. An amount of Rs.6400 was raised from the celebrations. The team visited Vidyavati Ashram, an orphanage at Kamshet to celebrate with the children. The volunteers and the girls of the orphanage completed the tradition of Raksha Bandhan by tying rakhis to the boys of the orphanage. Drawing books, water colors, painting sets, pens, etc were given as gifts to the children. Refreshments were also arranged by the volunteers for all the children. Uday along with other volunteers - Rashmeet Marwaha, Suvarna Patil, Shalmalee and Chaitrali participated in the celebrations in the Ashram. In Chennai, Rose Day was celebrated on 5 August’09 as Raksha Bandhan - to raise funds for SIFGSS. Volunteers sold roses to staff and raised Rs.10600/- as part of ODC fundraising for SIFGSS.
