More than Rs.80000 raised for SIFGSS
Gully cricket was back this year as part of the ODC activities in India. MC Barathkumar – the lead for Gully Cricket in Chennai helped by giving inputs to volunteers in Noida and Pune on the rules necessary to make Gully a great success. A total amount of Rs.42000/- was raised in Chennai, while in Noida the tournament was named as Cricennis Cup and raised Rs.42000/-. In Noida, sponsorships were received by vendors for Cricennis Cup as well. Due to rains in Pune, Gully Cricket will be held in November’09.
Navratri Celebrations (Dt of publishing: 7 Oct 2009)
40 students participated
Navratri celebrations in Pune included Dandiya on 25 Sept’09 for all the employees as well as 40 theatre club children from Dnyandeep Vidyalaya and Ganage High School. The children performed Garba and Dandiya (folk dance) in front of the staff. CSR volunteers joined in the celebrations. A stall for sale of art and crafts created by the children during the vocational training was also exhibited. The items on display and for sale were diyas, pen stands, small swings (decorative items) etc. Tambola was conducted as a conclusion by Anubuti Gupta. More than 100 staff participated and raised Rs.7000 for SIFGSS.
Chennai Marathon
On 27 September, our India CEO, Dr. Mukesh Aghi, and Ms. Shobha Tirkey, CSR Champion, Chennai, ran the Chennai Marathon in support of Steria India Foundation and more specifically Steria India Foundation Graduate Scholarship Scheme. Over 60 enthusiastic Chennai staff participated in the corporate run with several others on the sidelines carrying colorful Steria banners, cheering Mukesh and Shobha, notwithstanding the heavy downpour in the morning at the time of the run. Mukesh and Shobha’s marathon run was keenly watched and supported by Steria staff not only in India but also in the UK and Europe. Steria staff, friends and well wishers were generous in their support for the two runners and the event raised an amount of over Rs. 260000 in sponsorship money.
