Tom & Dom Volunteer in Padma Adarsh  (Dt of publishing: 25 Sept 2009)

Children of UK Staff in India…

Thomas and Dominic (Tom & Dom) spent their three weeks in India volunteering and giving a new coat of paint to the entire Primary School building of Padma Adarsh School including the interiors of the class rooms. Tom, accompanied by Dom (his friend), is the son of Andy Hill – BSP Client Director. Andy Hill and his family raised funds in the UK with cake sales prior to the India visit. The funds wereused by Tom and Dom for the painting the exteriors and interiors of the school, sports day activities and gifts for all the children.

The Sports Day was conducted on 18 Sept for 250 students of Padma Adars Primary School. Tom & Dom, the overseas volunteers from UK took the lead to organize this event with the help of 10 Steria staff volunteers and the CSR Team. Students participated in various competitive events like filling bottles with sand and water, piggy back race, frog race, three legged race and so on. Gifts were given away to all students. Sports equipment apart from prizes to all the winners were presented.

On Tuesday 22 September Andy Hill BSP Client Director visited the School and distributed milk to the children. He was very pleased to see the painting work of the school. The school management and the children presented hand made cards with messages as a token of appreciation to Tom and Do.

More than 30 trees planted

On Monday, 07 Sept’09, more than 30 trees were planted by Noida Authority in the plot maintained by Steria at Junior High School Sec-12 Noida. Steria had done the fencing work and levelled the ground to plant trees. Ten tree guards were also given to the school free of cost by the Noida Authority for the trees to be planted in the school premises.
