Blood donation camp was held by Aditya Birla Hospital Blood Bank on 16 Sept 09 in Steria Pune office. Though a huge number of staff came forward to donate blood, many of them had to be sent back by the doctors as their haemoglobin count was far less than normal. In spite of this, over 100 staff members donated blood on the day and about 15 employees had to be turned down for medical reasons. An appreciation certificate & donor’s card will be given by Aditya Birla Hospital to all the donors.

Workshops and planting of saplings
ODC Environment Day was celebrated on 11 Sept 09. Greenpeace volunteers set up an awareness desk in Steria Pune office where they talked about a clean & green environment. They ran a paper bag workshop through out the day for the employees where they learnt to use old news papers and say “No to plastics” The motive behind choosing this simple and easy workshop, was to involve more people and spread environmental concern and awareness. They also screened a short documentary on a “green agenda”. Green agents & CSR volunteers planted 50 saplings in the office on that day. 10 employees registered as supporters for Greenpeace with a monthly contribution of Rs. 250/- each.
Jyoti, a Steria appointed teacher and the environment club children conducted Ozone Day on 18 Sept. 09 in Dnyandeep Vidyalaya. Children were taught to make paper bags and also presented the effects of Global Warming. They visited each classroom to present details about Global Warming and gifted one paper bag to each teacher.

Flowers on sale for SIFGSS
On 11 September an artificial flower making workshop was conducted for 40 students of Medavakkam High School Chennai, by Shobha Tirkey - CSR Team Member. The artificial flowers were then sold to staff as ODC Valentine Day flowers for SIFGSS.
