Summer Camp - Pune Schools

A five day Summer Camp was held between 16 April and 20 April for 170 children from seven Steria supported schools in Pune. The venue this year was the Nigdi Girls School, for the day long activities every day for the five days - 9am to 5 pm. The purpose of this exercise was to let the children have fun after year long serious studies, but at the same time learn some useful creative skills in art and craft, choreography and fashion modelling. They also spent considerable time in improving their English language skills with the help of the well known organization Kshitij. They were encouraged to write stories, compose poems and even tried their hand at editing a magazine.
The children were all excited to know and learn about - how to walk the ramp and be a fashion model - a course handled by professional trainers. Along with this they were also exposed to the fundamentals of choreography and how to sync dance steps to music, create totally new dance movements and express stories, emotions, feelings and thoughts with the help of these movements.
At the grand finale on 21 April'09, which happened on Steria Pune campus, the children very proudly and confidently exhibited all that they had learnt during the five day camp - with a colorful medley of fashion, dance and music.
